President’s Column January
Close your eyes and listen. When we had our February fundraiser in Puerto Rico, one audience member did. He learned that our lead performer was visually impaired, blind. He closed his eyes as he listened to the rest of the performance and found a connection.

The Jack and Eunice Knight Memorial Fund Youth Grant
This is a grant from a fund donated in the memory of John G. (Jack) and Eunice K. Knight. Jack and Eunice were long time residents of Northern Virginia and noted for their active role in the life of their community. He was also known for his support of employees regardless of their economic background or country of origin. Both took roles in various boards and helping organizations. Jack’s work included board member of many of the community organizations including the library board, little league, regional industry advisory liaison as well as a member of the local Rotary.

Recently, Jean and John Knight visited Boston and met Emibet Rios Roldán, a past scholarship recipient. They took her to her first Major League Baseball game. Below, Emibet tells us what she’s been doing in Boston this summer.

President’s Column – May 2025
I’m going to revisit a concept from a president’s column a few months ago, but from a different angle. Juggling.
Gabriela Hernández and Axel Román from Colegio Bautista de Caguas hold a $1,500 check from Hermandad.
These funds will help with expenses as they fulfill their dream of participating in the International Science Fair and representing Puerto Rico. The International Science Fair will be held in Columbus, Ohio from May 10-16, 2025.
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, Jean and John Knight were able to see the Habitat for Humanity site in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Since last year’s visit, government inspections have been completed and they got to speak with one of the new residents. Jean and John met representatives from Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico and Habitat for Humanity International.
